Navigator Dreams : Global Talent Design Contest, 2017

Designers from all over the world took up Navigators’ challenge to Dream Big and Design Bigger. Between the 13th of January and the 15th of March, the world’s leading premium office paper brand received 459 proposals for Navigator Students’ 2017 packaging layout. More than twice the number of applications two years ago and almost one third more towards last year. Out of these, 30 proposals were shortlisted by Navigator and will now be assessed by a jury of renowned specialists. On the 10th of April 2017 the winners will be revealed.

This 3rd edition of Navigator Dreams – Global Talent Design Contest is the one in which the competition went truly global, with participants spanning across 57 nations from the five continents. Portugal, Russia and Mexico were the three applicants’ major source countries, followed by Serbia, Greece and Brazil.
-e author of the best proposal will be awarded with a Microsoft Surface Studio and an Adobe Pack, apart from seeing his/her layout showcased around the World on the ream of Navigator Students, a multifunctional office paper made for academic challenges. -e author of the second placed proposal will receive a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro 13’’ along with a keyboard and the third placed designer will get an iPad Pro and an Apple pencil & keyboard.
But, first and foremost, this recognition will be an opportunity to make a big impression in the design world and to get a boost in a designing career.
“Participations are steadily increasing year after year which is very positive, especially taking into consideration there are many more countries involved every time. -e rising overall quality of the design proposals is something that also makes us proud” explains Ricardo Ferreira, Navigator’s global brand manager.
“Sixty per cent of the participants are below 24 years old, which means we are reinforcing Navigator’s awareness within this younger audience, one of the objectives set at the beginning of the initiative”, added Ricardo Ferreira.

A first-class jury
Preeminent Navigator figures and distinguished designers compose the jury panel. On the one hand, António Redondo, member of -e Navigator Company’s Board of Directors, Ricardo Ferreira and António
Quirino Soares, Navigator’s Brand Manager and Marketing Directors, respectively. On the other hand, Javier Pereda and Anna Solsona, respectively creative director and art director at ESIETE, an awarded graphic design agency based in Barcelona ; and Paulo Martins, who runs Left, an independent design studio in Amsterdam, and has been involved in highly acclaimed campaigns as a hands-on creative director.
